On The Danube & On The Sea

The high-end Hotel Dorothea is being constructed as part of one of the most complex and multifunctional real estate developments of Budapest.

The multifunctional real estate development is being carried out with the complete architectural renewal of a building complex made up of three buildings, two of them being historical buildings, bounded by four streets, in the heart of the city, at Vörösmarty tér. The concept and the interior design plans were prepared by Lissoni & Partners studio, the renowned architectural office led by Piero Lissoni from Milan, in close cooperation with Hungarian professional designers, paying special attention to the preservation and restoration of the valuable historical elements.

The five-star Hotel Dorothea is operated by the Marriot International hotel chain under the brand of Autograph Collection Hotels, which groups together unique, so-called lifestyle, independent hotels with special design and character worldwide. The completed hotel will have 216 rooms, two restaurants operated by the hotel (one of them in the large, covered internal courtyard), and a conference centre, hereby serving all the needs of the hotel guests as well as the local guests to the full. Further two restaurants, one of them being the “sky restaurant” with a view of the Danube and Buda, are to be operated under the names of Bibo and Aleli by the Three-Michelin Star Chef Dani Garcia from Spain.

Being constructed by the interior design plans of Lissoni & Partners studio, the 28 apartments have an extraordinary view of the Danube, and the hotel services will be available to the residents, as well.

With the accomplishment of the development project, BDPST Group was also creating new jobs in the fields of high-end tourism and catering, and it is further strengthening the importance of the Hungarian capital as a tourist destination in the region. The renovation of the building complex was completed and Hotel Dorothea opened its doors on 20 November 2023.

The history of the former MAHART House can be read in the bilingual book entitled ‘On the Danube and on the Sea – Hungarian Shipping and Its Palace’, hereby preserving the historical and professional legacy of the building.
